This site would not be possible without the dedicated scholarship of Dr. Eldon N. Van Liere, who retired as Professor of Art History in 1998 from Michigan State University after nearly four decades of teaching. Dr. Van Liere has published extensively on nineteenth century art and artists. He has written museum exhibition catalogs, including one on HR Kenyon that served as the basis for this site.

The lives of the Chapman and Rothwell families have been greatly enhanced by the devotion of the artist and Dr. Van Liere. The site is dedicated to the memories of Russell Comstock Chapman and Barbara Chapman Rothwell.
